Death Claims Orofino Baker

      OROFINO - Julius A. Schubach, Orofino area baker, died at 9 a.m. Wednesday ath the Arcadian Nursing Home at Greer. He had been a patient there for the past week. He was 94.

     He was born July 9, 1863, at Burgsdorf, Germany. He was a baker in Germany and moved to Chicago in 1890. He married Adeline Plinske on October 24, 1891. She died in Virginia in 1900. He then married Hulda Perrill in 1904, and she died at Chicago while on a visit in 1920.

     Schubach moved from Chicago to Spokane in 1916 and was a baker at the Davenport Hotel. In the fall of 1916 he moved to the Grangemont area and homesteaded.

     Occasionally during the next few years he returned to Spokane and worked as a baker. He also worked at Orofino for Rider Bros. from 1920 until he opened his own bakery in 1925. He operated it until 15 years ago.

     Before entering the Arcadian Nursing Home he had been in Lewiston and Clarkston nursing homes. He had lived at Lewiston for three years.

     Survivors include two sons, Julius A. Schubach, Jr., Orofino, and Edwin Schubach, Seattle; one daughter, Mrs. Oliver Kennedy, Chicago; nine grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.

     The body is at Gilbert's Funeral Home.
